The Research Sage
I’ve spent most of my life in libraries. My love of reading started early, passed down from my parents—my mom, an English teacher, and my dad, an engineer-turned-salesman who organized our home library using the Dewey Decimal System (seriously). Even my maternal grandmother, whom I never met, was a librarian. You could say it runs in the family.

I earned my B.A. in German with every intention of attending library school—but life had other plans. After a career spanning IT, finance, education, nonprofits, and healthcare, I finally earned my Master of Library Science in my 50s. (Proof that it’s never too late to go back to school!)

I love the hunt! I’m a passionate researcher (sage!), information sleuth, and academic coach. Inspired by a professor’s observation that many students—especially in online and under-resourced programs—lack access to research support, I created Ask Marj to fill that gap.

Today, I help non-traditional graduate students navigate research and writing, and I offer research services for authors, entrepreneurs, and organizations—everything from fact-checking and secondary research to grant searches.

At the heart of my work is a deep drive to help others reach their Aha! moments. I am fueled by curiosity, driven by purpose, and grounded in the belief that knowledge should empower — not intimidate. Facts matter. Always.

Mission Statement
At Ask Marj, I empower authors, businesses, and students with expert research, fact-checking, and academic coaching. My mission is to fuel success through personalized support, sharp insight, and a commitment to critical thinking and academic excellence.
